Dairy Farm Assistant Job In “A & S Dairy Limited”
A & S Dairy Limited operates dairy farming operations in the Waikato region and is looking for three reliable and motivated Dairy Farm Assistants to help with the daily operation of its farms.
The successful applicants will work across the employer’s dairy farms in Whatawhata and Horsham Downs. Employees may be rostered between the two locations according to the reasonable operational and seasonal requirements of the farms.
This role is suited to people who are comfortable working with cattle, performing practical farm duties and working outdoors in different weather conditions.
Responsibilities
As a Dairy Farm Assistant, your duties in “A & S Dairy Limited” may include:
- Assist with milking cows and dairy shed duties
- Bring cows to and from the dairy shed
- Assist with stock movements
- Feed livestock and distribute supplementary feed
- Monitor the health and condition of livestock
- Report signs of illness, injury or lameness to the Farm Manager
- Assist with calving and care of calves and young stock
- Clean and maintain the dairy shed, yards and troughs
- Maintain other farm facilities and hygiene standards
- Assist with fencing and weed control
- Help with pasture and general farm maintenance
- Operate farm vehicles, machinery and equipment when appropriately trained
- Assist with irrigation and other routine farm activities
- Follow animal welfare and biosecurity requirements
- Follow environmental and workplace health and safety procedures
- Perform other general dairy farm duties as required
Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements of “A & S Dairy Limited”:
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in dairy farming or livestock management; or
- A qualification at Level 1 or higher on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF)
Applicants must also have the following abilities:
- Be physically fit and capable of performing practical dairy farming duties
- Be comfortable working with cattle and livestock
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team
- Be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Be able to follow instructions and workplace health and safety procedures
- Be available for rostered hours, including early mornings, weekends and public holidays when required
- Hold a clean driving licence
