Responsibilities:
As a Carpenter In “Metro Doors & Woodworking” your duties may include:
- Prepare estimates of labour and material costs
- Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
- Prepare layouts in accordance with building codes
- Use measuring tools to establish accurate dimensions and layouts
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join wood and other materials
- Work with wood substitutes and lightweight steel when required
- Prepare tenders and quotations
- Build foundations and install floor beams
- Lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
- Fit and install windows and doors
- Install stairs, mouldings and hardware
- Schedule and coordinate work at job sites
- Instruct apprentices in carpentry tasks
- Supervise other workers
- Estimate required costs and materials
- Operate CADD and other computer software systems
- Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures
- Complete carpentry work in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
- Follow workplace safety and construction procedures

Requirements
Candidates should meet the following requirements of “Metro Doors & Woodworking”:
Experience
Candidates must have 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in carpentry or a related field.
A secondary school graduation certificate is required.
Applicants should also have practical experience using hand tools and performing carpentry, installation, construction, maintenance and renovation tasks.
